Open and solid blocks alternated for pool-edge privacy.
Straits International School Rawang was designed to provide a vibrant and safe learning environment within a tropical setting. The campus emphasizes openness, ventilation, and sustainable material use, with special attention given to areas where students gather, such as outdoor play zones and the swimming pool area.
Use of PBM Ventilation & Hollow Blocks
In this project, the architectural team combined VB 191.100 and Hollow Block 90.05 (solid block) to form a textured screening wall system surrounding the swimming pool and recreational area.
These blocks were applied in both fencing and an elevated shading structure, offering:
•Passive shading and privacy for student zones
•Visual rhythm through alternating open (ventilated) and solid (non-ventilated) modules
•A consistent material palette with expressive patterning
